Afin de traiter la dimension internationale de la protection des données, il convient d’exploiter pleinement le potentiel des accords juridiquement contraignants entre les pays. Il importe en particulier de souligner la Convention européenne des droits de l’homme et la Convention pour la protection des personnes à l’égard du traitement automatisé des données (Convention 108), adoptée par le Conseil de l’Europe qui offre aux citoyens des droits en de nombreuses parties du monde. Le CEPD donne des conseils sur la modernisation de la convention 108.
