International Organisations Workshop on Data Protection 2024
The EDPS and the World Bank co-host the 2024 edition of the International Organisations Workshop on data protection - IOW 2024. The event takes place on 23 and 24 September in Washington DC, US, at the World Bank headquarters and online.
This initiative, launched by the EDPS in 2005, aims at bringing together International Organisations to share experiences and best practices in the field of privacy and data protection. Participants discuss the most recent regulatory developments at international level and analyse their implications for International Organisations. This workshop is a unique opportunity to meet, share experiences, best practices, concerns and updates relating to data protection from the perspective of International Organisations.
In the year of its 20th Anniversary, this year’s IOW is the first edition of the Workshop convened outside of Europe. By hosting the Workshop across the Atlantic, the organisers aim to reinforce the global nature of the International Organisations’ network with a stronger representation of participants based in the Americas and outside Europe.
This edition is an opportunity to take stock of the past editions of the Workshop and explore future perspectives for this initiative and the International Organisations’ network more generally. It also focuses on development and use of artificial intelligence in international organisations, data transfers to and between international organisations; prevention, mitigation and response to personal data breaches; compliance of IT tools; and role and challenges of data protection professionals and DPOs in international organisations.
Please note that this workshop is a hybrid event reserved only to representatives of International Organisations.
