During 2025, the EDPS’s work was characterised by a shift from strategy to action, guided by our strategic principles: Foresight, Action and Solidarity. Our AI Unit and our activities in this field continued to expand to meet our new supervisory role under the AI Act, including a pioneering regulatory sandbox project. We fielded a record 145 legislative consultations on topics from digital identity to GDPR modifications, while continuing to oversee the data protection posture of EU institutions, including in critical areas of Justice and Home Affairs. This is not to mention the analysis we published related to emerging technologies, as we sought to stay ahead of the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Going forward, as the independent institution in charge of supervising data protection within EU institutions, bodies, offices and agencies, the EDPS will continue to guide the EU administration through the digital transformation with expertise and an unwavering focus on fundamental rights.
