International Organisations Workshop on Data Protection 2025
The 20th edition of the International Organisations Workshop will be held on 25–26 September 2025. The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are co-hosting IOW 2025, the International Organisations Workshop on data protection. The event will take place in Paris at UNESCO headquarters, as well as online.
This year, a high-level panel will offer the opportunity for high-level exchanges, involving a diverse range of stakeholders, on the safeguarding of privileges and immunities, of independence and neutrality, of digital sovereignty and of personal data in a rapidly changing geopolitical context.
In addition to high-level panel, the workshop features two panels on AI and on recent developments and practices for international transfers to and between international organisations.
In addition, two practical sessions focus on anonymisation of personal data and the compliance of IT tools with privacy obligations. Finally, the workshop includes two breakout sessions to encourage dynamic discussions in smaller groups. One session tackles challenges on risk management and data protection impact assessment while the other one explores how to deal with Data Subject requests. The format of these sessions result in a deeper engagement, enabling participants to exchange knowledge and experience in a more personal setting.
This workshop offers a unique platform to connect, share insights, best practices, challenges, and updates on data protection from the viewpoint of International Organisations.
Please note that this hybrid event is exclusively for representatives of International Organisations.
