Meeting with Meta on PETs

The EDPS held a first in a series of workshops with Big Tech companies on Privacy Enhancing Technologies. The meeting with Meta covered the following:

  • Privacy Enhancing Technologies basics: how can PET’s power the future of advertising. Overview of what PETs Meta is currently working with or developing. Assessment of the maturity level of each PET category.
  • Privacy Enhancing Technologies: A deep dive into Privacy Preserving Attribution + Q&A: Exchange of views on the key challenges and incentives that could help in the transition of PETs from the lab to the market.

Meeting with the Danmarks DPO-Forening

  • EDPS Review of the Microsoft 365 Case and the Role of the EDPS

  • The meeting focused on the EDPS’ findings the European Commission’s use of Microsoft 365. Thomas Zerdick, Head of Unit “Supervision and Enforcement” outlined the background and conclusions of the investigation.
  • The EDPS highlighted the key lessons for controllers arising from the case and used the discussion to provide a broader overview of the EDPS’ supervisory role and activities. The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, offering participants an opportunity to clarify aspects of the decision and to better understand the EDPS’ approach to supervision.
