Datenschutzrichtlinie für elektronische Kommunikation („e-Datenschutz-Richtlinie“)
Die Datenschutzrichtlinie für elektronische Kommunikation von 2002 ist ein wichtiges Rechtsinstrument für den Schutz der Privatsphäre im digitalen Zeitalter, genauer gesagt die Vertraulichkeit der Kommunikation sowie die Vorschriften zu Rückverfolgung und Überwachung. Mit dem Inkrafttreten der Datenschutz-Grundverordnung ist der EU-Gesetzgeber verpflichtet, diesen Text zu aktualisieren. Und die Europäische Kommission veröffentlichte am 10. Januar 2017 einen entsprechenden Vorschlag. Mit diesem neuen Text gilt es, sich mit dem sich rasch entwickelnden technologischen Umfeld auseinanderzusetzen. Hierzu zählen Themen wie die Vertraulichkeit von Kommunikationsvorgängen zwischen Maschinen (Internet der Dinge) oder die Vertraulichkeit der Kommunikation von Personen in öffentlich zugänglichen Netzen (wie öffentliches WLAN).
